Reverse Blink – when Alfie was just born, he did this repeated reverse blink while he was trying to open his eyes. It was so cute.
Shhhhh – when Alfie was about 2 weeks old, Alfie was sleeping in his bassinet in the middle of our lounge room and Daddy and I were talking over him. Daddy (as usual) was using his loud voice and we both looked down as Alfie lifted up one finger and brought it to his mouth really slowly as if to say “shhh”
Crazy Eyes – whenever we would take Alfie into a dark room or down a hallway he would do “crazy eyes” with a serious face and a jolt. It was hilarious.
You Can’t Catch Poo – on our first night home, Daddy was changing Alfie’s nappy and he started doing a big poo. Daddy had already taken the nappy away and as a reflex, tried to catch the poo with his hands to stop it getting on the towel…so funny.
Sleepy Smiles – just as our little man was falling asleep he used to have a big smile on his face. It would only last a tiny while but it was so cute.
Circle Mouth – up to about 1 month old, our little man used to do this cute little face with a tiny ‘o’ mouth. It was my favourite face he pulled.
Phone Drop – when Alfie was only a few weeks old, I was lying on the floor with him lying on my chest. I was looking at my phone above him and then dropped it by mistake. It fell onto my cheekbone and I though “Oh thank god it didn’t hit Alfie” and then all of a sudden he let out this huge cry that we had never heard before and I realised that it had hit his head first and then my cheek. He had a little red mark and all. I felt sooo bad.
Scarla – when Scarla saw Alfie for the second time, she had the cutest observations. She said “His skin is a different colour (his jaundice was fading) and he looks like he’s from another country (because his eyes look Asian)”
Finger Spread– for the first few months of Alfie’s life, he had a space between his middle and ring finger. It was just like the Vulcan salute from star trek.
Puppet Mouth– from about 4 months, our little man started sucking in his bottom lip and putting his top lip over it, making a straight line. It made his mouth look like a puppets.
