We got our little man a froggy chair to sit in since he loves being upright all the time. He loves sitting up in it and looking all around the room. He still likes Mummy or Daddy near so that he knows hes not alone 🙂 So now he has a chair, a rocker, a swing and a playmat. An apparatus for every situation possible lol
No More Newborn
By 6 weeks, our little man was out of newborn nappies and into the infant size. He also fit into his first 000 outfit. He is growing so quickly. He always seems to grow in his body first and then his legs kind of catch up. He has short legs compared to his body. Love our little man.
Doctors and Needles
At 6 weeks, Alfie had his first check up with the GP and the Child Health Nurse. They were both very happy with his progress and said he was doing really well. The only thing that needed some attention was his dry and flakey skin that was still left as a result of his sweat rashes. I have used QV moisturiser on him every day since then and after a few weeks, his skin was back to nice and soft.
After his GP check up, he also received his first lot of immunisations since he was born. He had two needles and a drink. He cried a lot when he got them and even had his first tear but I fed him straight after and he was feeling better after that. About 3 hours later we went to the shops to do our weekly grocery shop and all of a sudden, our little man started screaming. I took him to the parenting room but he wouldn’t latch and just kept screaming. We quickly left the shopping centre but he wouldn’t go back into the pram so one of us had to hold him while the other one had to juggle the pram and the trolley at the same time. He continued screaming until we got home. At this time we gave him some Panadol and not long after that he was feeling much better and fell asleep. It was heartbreaking watching him in so much discomfort and we were so happy when he was feeling better.
First Real Smiles
At 6 weeks old, Alfie started giving us his first real smiles. I took him to sit on my lap outside and moved my phone in front of my face and away again and he kept smiling everytime. It was so exciting to get his first real smiles on camera. Ever since he started, Daddy definitely gets the best smiles from our little man. his face lights up everytime he sees his Daddy, its so cute. They have such a connection.
Mummy or Daddy?
Coo Coo
At 5 weeks, Alfie started making his first sounds. He started with ooo and hoo and then spread out to cooo, goo, gaa, agoo, haaa, oooh etc. As soon as he started making noises, he never looked back. He is especially vocal with daddy on the change table. You can hear them yelling at each other from the other side of the house. I love it.
One Month Old
By One Month Old, our little man was 4.3kgs and 54cm long. He loved sleeping on his tummy (always falling asleep during tummy time), drinking lots and lots of milk, listening to Daddy talk (he always stopped and tried to listen to Daddy), music, showers and moving (whether he be moving himself or someone moving while holding him).
No More Baths
After a month of difficult baths with our little man (he hates them and just screams), we decided to try out the shower with him. To our delight, our little man absolutely loved it. Daddy held him and Mummy washed him. It works really well and Alfie is a dream. One thing is for sure…showers are the new baths 🙂
The Beach
Sensitive Skin
At around 4 weeks, our little man started to develop a rash around his neck, ears and face. We took him to the doctors to get checked out and the doctor thought it was a sweat rash. So from then on we stopped putting him in singlets and he only wore pure cotton outfits. We also changed from Johnsons baby wash to QV products. This stopped his outbreaks appearing. He is a very warm baby. Even though its winter, he is in t-shirts and singlets while most other babies are in layers and layers with blankets and all.
